3-Day Walking Mentorship

From 27th September to 29th September

3 days / 2 nights

6-15 people

The challenge

While enjoying vacations, many of us look for opportunities to switch off from our daily activities. Staying away creates the conditions to gain perspective on our current situation and clarify what we would like to change or do differently. Sounds easy, but it is not!

The opportunity

At the Walking Mentorship, we have been developing mentoring programs since 2015 that support individuals in slowing down to clarify their goals and creating an action plan to achieve them. Always walking and always in nature. We have created a short-term program (3 days), making your vacation time even more special and unforgettable.

The solution

The Walking retreat creates the perfect environment for self-reflection and discussions with our mentors. Walking in nature energizes your action plan and brings your best ideas to the top of your life. Let nature do its part of the work inside your brain.

The impact

Return home with everything you were expecting, plus a new perspective on the most important things in your life and an action plan to start implementing the next day.

  • We will walk in the vicinity of our accommodation site (Tajo Negro, La Concha).
  • We used reflection exercises based on our methodology, talks with the mentors and other participants, and periods of self-reflection.
  • The program’s outcome is an individual action plan on which each participant can focus their energy and start working the very next day.

Nestled amidst the breathtaking scenery of Marbella, Sierra Blanca stands as a testament to the natural beauty of the region. This mountain range boasts rugged landscapes, adorned with verdant vegetation and towering peaks such as La Concha (1,215 m.), Cerro Lastonar (1,275 m.), and Pico del Juanar (1,181 m.).

One of the most captivating features of Sierra Blanca is the panoramic vistas it offers of the Mediterranean Sea, providing visitors with breathtaking views that stretch as far as the eye can see.

Traversing Sierra Blanca’s trails reveals a rich array of Mediterranean flora, from aromatic herbs like rosemary and thyme to dense pine forests and clusters of cork oak trees. Wildlife roams freely, with the occasional sighting of ibex, golden eagles, griffon vultures, badgers, roe deer, foxes, wild boars and rabbits.

Beyond its natural splendor, Sierra Blanca offers access to cultural and historical gems. Nearby white towns like GenalguacilAlgatocin, and Gaucin showcase Andalusian charm, while Estepona offers a tranquil beach getaway off the beaten track. Additionally, the proximity to Malaga Airport makes Sierra Blanca easily accessible for travelers.

Whether hiking the mountain paths or exploring nearby towns, Sierra Blanca beckons adventurers to immerse themselves in the beauty and history of southern Spain.

Day 1. Slow down.

On your first day, we will gather the group at 9h30 AM in Marbella, where we will start our walk towards Juanar, where we will be staying during the program. You will take the time to define your focus question for this program. Describe your current moment. What is not clear? What is pressing? What is emerging? Identify the challenges and opportunities that you are currently living.

Day 2. Reconnect + Gain Perspective

What new beginnings are you looking for? What new starts have you been delaying? What is the role of hope, optimism, and amazement in your life? Do you feel yourself to be in flow? Today, we are going to have the opportunity to “produce” plenty of neurotransmitters inside our body, especially in our brains.

The notion of time during our program runs a little different. There are plenty of challenges coming our way, and we use the walks to give our brains a little rest.

During our walk, you will have the opportunity to disconnect to connect better; we will give you a few suggestions that, if followed properly, will create the conditions to enjoy an experience that we rarely do in our daily day activities.

Deep listening will be at the top of our to-do list, and after we will see what comes out of the day.

We will start by pairing you with some of the participants to gain different perspectives about how each one is evolving in the exercise and, more precisely, how we are tackling the focus question.

The end is always the beginning of something new. This is the last day of our program and at the same time the beginning of some intentional actions you want to implement/change in your life. it is time to collect everything you achieved and received in the previous days and turn it into something real and tangible.

Start by identifying the actions you believe you should focus your attention on in the coming days, weeks, and months.

Check if the Actions you decided to focus your attention on are helping you answer your initial focus question.

Make sure the time you choose to implement them can be seen in the short /medium term, meaning something between 3 and 6 months. If you think you will need more time to implement or see the results, be aware of placing a number of intermediate milestones along the way to observe the evolution carefully and correct course if needed.

Walking Mentorship

The concept took almost twenty years to prepare. Supported by research along with hundreds of walks with family, friends and their friends, the Walking Mentorship was created.

At the end of 2015, the first groups hit the road with their backpacks. Since that day, hundreds of people worldwide have joined our different outdoors and online programs.

João Perre Viana founded the Walking Mentorship, and a few years later, was joined by Nuno Santos Fernandes as a partner. Based on an innovative service model, the WM has been partnering with different co-mentors from various geographies and organizations committed to unleashing their teams’ full potential. Always walking, always in nature.
